With our landfills growing exponentially, recycling beverage cartons has become more important than ever before.

what is the composition of beverage cartons?

Beverage cartons are made of (on average,
by weight):

75% paperboard, a renewable material when
the forests are managed responsibly

20% polymers, mostly polyethylene, to
prevent leakage

5% aluminium, to protect drinks from light
and oxygen

Each of these three components are recyclable, indicating that a used beverage carton can be completely recycled if processed correctly.

WHY SHOULD WE RECYCLE USED BEVERAGE CARTONS?

Our country is generating over one lakh metric tons of waste every day. The main focus so far has been on recycling plastic and easily recyclable products. Unfortunately, due to a lack of awareness among consumers to segregate waste at source and for the informal sector to segregate multilayered packaging in landfills, used beverage cartons are adding to the mountains of waste that exist in our cities. Through AARC, we aim to address these problems and ensure that the gigantic mounds of trash that crowd our cities are reduced and new, recyclable products are created through our mechanism.

How are Beverage Cartons Recycled?

Beverage cartons are collected, either at the source or at landfills, from where they are sent to the recycling plant. Over here, the paper is separated from the polyethylene and aluminium via the hydra pulping process and then converted into many useful products.
